2000. In the 20th century there were many
events, inventions, and discoveries that
changed people’s lives for ever.
World wars
There were two terrible
world wars during the
20th century. World War I
lasted from 1914 to 1918.
World War II lasted from
1939 to 1945. Millions of
soldiers and civilians
died in these wars.

electricity is made at nuclear power
stations. This one is on the River Seine.
