write a book?” His guest was somewhat startled but
naturally wanted to know what the subject should
be. Dr. Iqbal then launched with great enthusiasm
on an explanation of the project which had taken
shape in his mind. “Hundreds and thousands of
Indians from the villages and outskirts of the towns
of India have converted to Islam on their own. If
you meet them and inquire about the reasons for
their self-conversion, they will reveal strange
reasons that appeal to the heart. If all that were to
