In modern times, amazing advances have been
made in the fields of medicine and surgery, claims
having been made that science is able to control all
diseases, with perhaps the single exception of
cancer. Yet as science discovers cures for ancient
diseases, new and often more terrible diseases
appear which have to be contended with. The latest
scourge, AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency
Syndrome) has so far defied all medical attempts to
quell it. People who contract this disease are often
dead within just a few weeks, and its spread has
begun to strike terror into the hearts of western
civilization. Because of its origins in the kind of
unnatural homosexual practices which are abhorred
and specifically prohibited by religion, people have
begun to think of it as a form of divine retribution
which spares no one.
