Sayyiduna
‘Umar [r] was a hard
working and devoted servant of
Allah who became the second
Khalif
of Islam.
- A ruler should care for his peo-
ple just as a father cares for his
children.
- A ruler should associate with the
common people so as to
acquaint himself with their condi-
tion.
- A ruler should spend his nights
comforting those in need and not
enjoying the comforts of a warm
bed.
- Hunger brings sorrow and dis-
tress.
- Because widows have no hus-
band to support them they often
experience great difficulty and,
as such, deserve special care
