Muhammad’s experience of busi-
ness and trading, together with his
excellent reputation, drew him to
the attention of Khadijah, a beautif-
ful and wealthy widow. She had a
large business of her own and was
looking for an honest person to
manage it for her.
Khadijah asked Muhammad to take
her goods to trade in Sham.
Muhammad agreed.
Khadijah sent her slave, Maysarah,
with him. During the travels,
Muhammad treated Maysarah very
kindly, as he did all people.
Maysarah not only saw how fair and
honest Muhammad was in his busi-
ness dealings, but he noticed the
many other good qualities in
Muhammad which no other person
seemed to possess. He was
impressed by Muhammad’s beauti-
ful manners and charming person-
