would say to herself and, “
You will
come to me!
” she would say to
Yusuf. “
And if you do not do what I
command you to do, then I will cer-
tainly see to it that you are impris-
oned, and you will indeed be humil-
iated, as I was
.”
Yusuf raised his head to the heav-
ens and prayed, “
O my Lord, I pre-
fer imprisonment to the evil she
calls me to. And if You do not pro-
tect me from her, then I fear that I
will become attracted to her too,
and become one of those who are
foolish.
”
So Allah answered his prayer, and
protected him from her evil plotting.
The minister and other nobles
decided that it was best to send
Yusuf to prison. They all knew that
he was innocent but they thought
that in this way they might be able
to protect the honour of their fami-
