Giganotosaurus
means “giant southern
reptile”, and this dinosaur was big;
in fact it may have been larger than
T. rex
. However, the two never met
as
Giganotosaurus
was roaming some
10 million years before
T. rex!
Big and bold
Age of the dinosaurs
It’s a new find!
Giganotosaurus
bones were first
unearthed in Argentina in the
early 1990s, but no complete
skeleton has ever been found.
Where did
Giganotosaurus
live?
It’s difficult to imagine just
how big and heavy a fully
grown
Giganotosaurus
really
was. It’s thought to have been
as heavy as about 125 adult
humans. That’s a lot
of people!
