support to a message when it is backed up by
nothing but simple truth who will find honour and
rank in the sight of God. When it gains the status of
an institution, then support of it will earn one no
credit with God. Commitment to Islam as a message
is an act carried out for God. Commitment to Islam
as an institution, however, is all too often entered
into for the material benefits that accrue from it.
EXALTATION OF THE WORD OF GOD
Just as traffic lights are erected at crossroads to
guide and control traffic, so prophets have been
sent by God to stand on the roads of life and show
travellers the road leading to heaven, and warn
them to steer clear of that which leads to hell. The
Qur’an has put this in the following words:
Thus We have made of you a people justly
balanced, that you may be witnesses over the
nations, and the Prophet a witness over
yourselves.
