5. ISLAM IN BRIEF
What is Islam? This is a vast subject. In this chapter
we shall give a brief account of some of its basic
aspects in the light of the Qur’an and
hadith
.
TRUE GUIDANCE
The Qur’an leads us to the true guidance. In this
connection, we quote a passage from the Qur’an:
God is He besides Whom there is no god, the
Ever-living, the Self-subsisting by Whom all
subsist; slumber does not overtake Him nor
sleep; whatever is in the heavens and
whatever is on the earth is His; who can
intercede with Him but by His permission?
He knows what is before men and what is
behind them, and they cannot comprehend
anything out of His knowledge except what
He wills. His knowledge encompasses the
heavens and the earth, and the preservation of
them both does not tire Him, and He is the
Most High, the Great. There is no compulsion
in religion; truly the right way has become
