God Arises
Religion and Society
~ 416 ~
This social system which has ignored the distinctly
separate roles of men and women, has been beset
by great evils, not the least of which is the
disappearance of the notion of chastity which has
gone hand in hand with the rise in promiscuity. The
whole of the younger generation likewise seems
affected by various moral and psychological
ailments. Today it is common for an unmarried girl
complaining only of headache or insomnia to be
told by her physician that she is pregnant. The free
mixing of men and women has rendered the
concept of purity meaningless. As a western doctor
so pertinently says, “There can come a moment
between a man and a woman when control and
judgement are impossible.” Marion Hilliard, an
eminent doctor, severely criticizes free intercourse.
She writes: “As a doctor, I don’t believe there is
such a thing as a platonic relationship between a
man and a woman who are alone together a good
deal.” She goes on to say. “I cannot be so unrealistic
as to advise young boys and girls to stop kissing.
However, most of the mothers do not tell their
daughters that a kiss simply stimulates the desire
rather than satisfies it.’
