The eldest brother refused to leave
Egypt; he did not have the courage
to confront his father. He Spoke to
his brothers, saying, “
Remember
that your father took a pledge from
you, in Allah’s name, that you would
protect Binyamin and bring him
back. Remember that once, a long
time ago, you did even worse to
Yusuf ? I will not leave this land until
my father gives me permission to
return to him or Allah decides my
fate
.”
He then asked his brothers to
return, saying to them, “
Go back to
your father and say, ‘Father, your
son has committed a theft. We bear
witness only to what we know. We
could not have known the unseen
