The brothers secretly met. “
We
must do something about this!

of them shouted out. “
It is an out-
rage.

Yes indeed! I say we kill
him!
” shrieked another. “
How about
driving him away to some distant
land, then we will have our father’s
love all to ourselves. He will then
love us, and us alone,
” yelled a
third. One of them then suggested,
“
No! Let us rather throw him into a
well beside the road. Some trav-
ellers will find him and take him far,
far away.
”
This plan pleased the jealous broth-
ers and they all agreed.
CHAPTER 4
