sound the Lord’s alert? “Mankind! Worship Me.
Fulfill your obligations to one another and live in
accordance with My will. I will punish those who
fail to do this in a way that cannot be imagined.
They will writhe forever in a torment from which
they will never be able to free themselves.” What
happens, indeed? Everyone has heard this warning,
but no one acknowledges its force, its authority, its
essential truth. The general attitude is to treat it as a
matter of no consequence, to be thought about later,
or perhaps not at all.
To gain worldly advantages, people do not stop at
anything. In this way the caravan of life is hastening
onwards to a point of no return. People start in
response to the siren’s wail, but ignore the warnings
of the Lord of the Universe. Far from hastening to
do what is right at the very sound of it, no one even
alters his pace.
What is the reason for this very strange state of
affairs? It is simply that the siren warns us of the
dangers of this world, the consequences of which
will immediately be felt, whereas the danger signals
given by the Lord relate to the after-life, which is
